Who We Are...
Rocstock Farm is family owned and operated. It is composed of Jimmy
and Robin Rochell, along with their daughter Brittney and their son and
daughter in law, Josh and Kristy. Everyone always ask how we came up
with Rocstock so we will clear that up first. Our last name is Rochell so we
took the first three letters, Roc, and combined them with stock because we
have other kinds of animals also. Together they became Rocstock.
On April 3, 1981 Jimmy and Robin married. Jimmy's dream was to own
and operate a farm and to raise his kids in the country. Robin being a city
girl reluctantly agreed. Josh was born in 1983 and Brittney followed in
1986. In September of 1988 they bought a house and 71 acres west of
Duncan and started living the dream. Jimmy started out with a small herd
of cattle that has grown over time. Jimmy worked in the oilfield, while
Robin stayed home with the kids and tended to the "farm life".
When Josh was old enough to join 4-H he started showing cattle. When
Brittney was old enough she also joined 4-H. Josh wanted a show pig so
bad but Jimmy hated them. Josh finally succeeded in talking his dad into
letting him and Brittney get show pigs. That year they both got Durocs.
Little did any of us know this would be the beginning of a life long love for
all of us.
When the kids were old enough they both joined the FFA and continued to
show cattle and pigs. Brittney showed sheep one year but we all knew our
love was with the pigs. Josh loved the study of them. He spent countless
hours on the road with his Ag teacher attending sales all over the state. He
had found his calling. When he stepped foot into a pig barn it was like his
whole life changed. We started raising pigs as a hobby, then it became so
much more. It became part of us...it became who we are.
Agriculture has always been a huge part of our lives since the very
beginning. Jimmy got his State Farmer degree back when he was in FFA.
In 2002 Josh received his State FFA degree at the State Convention in
Oklahoma City and went on in 2003 to receive his American FFA degree at
the National FFA Convention in Louisville Kentucky. Brittney was following
closely in her dad and brothers footsteps. In 2004 she received her State
FFA degree at the State Convention and went on in 2005 to receive her
American FFA degree in Louisville Kentucky. The American FFA degree is
the highest degree anyone can obtain in the FFA. Only about one half of
one percent of the total national membership of the organization attains
this high honor. As you can tell we are very proud for both kids to have
received this honor.
In January of 2005 Josh found his soul mate Kristina Pauline. We all knew
it would take a special person to understand and accept Josh's love for
pigs. We have joked that she will have to understand that during breeding
and farrowing season Josh's life revolves around pigs and every spare
minute he has is spent in the barn. Kristy has done that and together their
love for each other and her love for the pigs continues to grow. They
married this past May in Las Vegas...and yes, the wedding was planned
around breeding season!
Josh and Brittney are both working full time while also pursuing degrees
in Agriculture. Kristy graduated from Oklahoma State University with a
degree in Agriculture. As you can tell our lives really do revolve around Ag.
